How to have an abundant mindset

A few minutes ago, I posted this on our private Money Mindset group on Facebook.

Then Jennica asked a question.

I love receiving questions!

I can’t help but give a full-on parang-blog-post reply. I always treat all messages seriously. If they’re asking for advice, I don’t write one-liners lang. Instead, I would really put down everything and answer each and everyone with full attention. Here’s my reply to Jennica.

Having an abundant mindset is more than just being positive. It’s not enough that you force yourself to be happy, grateful, and contented. Alam na naman natin yan diba? Alam natin na dapat ‘positive’ lang tayo.

But real shit happens. Everyday, we encounter disappointments, sadness, stress, and heartaches. There are many things in life we can’t control. At yung mga bagay na wala tayong control, we have to raise it up to God.

What you can control though is how you think. You can focus on the things you want rather than what’s lacking. Easier said than done though. By default, our mind is designed to survive. It sees scarcity and operates out of fear. You have to remember this whenever you’re making a decision. “Is this decision out of fear?” “Are my actions out of scarcity?”

That’s why it’s very important to be surrounded by people who have the same aspirations as you. If you want to lose weight, you find fitness buddies. If you want a better relationship with God, you join prayer groups or churches. If you want to learn scuba diving then you enroll in a class. The same way if you want to achieve financial success, find like-minded people who you can relate with. Sooner or later, you’ll find your posse and tribe.

Find a mentor or business bestie

As I said, you can’t be positive all the time. There will be moments that you feel like giving up. “Hindi ‘to para sa ‘kin.” “Sobrang hirap!” “Iba na nga lang.” And when you start having these thoughts, that’s when you need to talk to someone. And this person should be able to push you to move forward. Family and friends might always have good intentions but they may not understand your passion and drive. It’s very important to find a person you can talk to when you start having doubts about your abilities and goals. Someone who can understand your craziness because they’re crazy too. Find that person and connect with her.

I can sense that this community needs something actionable to work on to. Being a practical woman, apart from feel-good advice, I know you want to take action! So I’m thinking, would you be interested to attend a goal-setting workshop with me. It’s an online workshop (there will be a link where you can dial in and join. Internet connection is required) where I’ll guide you on how to effectively write a goal at hindi lang isulat sa papel. It’s a combination of manifesting exercises, SMARTER goal-setting, tips and tricks to actually achieve them. It’s the same techniques I’m using to actually achieve my yearly goals. If we have enough interests, then we’ll go ahead with this.
