New year, new money goals

Happy New Year! I hope your first few days of 2021 have been amazing.

If you’re into numerology, it’s no surprise that 2020, being Universal Year 4, turned out to be what we know it turned out to be. It was predicted that 2020 wasn’t going to be a social and fun-loving year. That there would be hard work and discipline involved. To be fair to 2020, it also says that the year was about big changes and new beginnings - I’ll take them as a positive.

With all the uncertainty we experienced last year, most of us share a collective optimistic outlook that 2021 has to be better than 2020… and we're ready.

As it turns out, 2021’s energy is all about of POSITIVE CHANGE.

If 2020 was a year that you waited it out, tested the waters, and learned many lessons, then 2021 is the perfect year to pivot and to take on adventures and risks.

Peeps, when it comes to your relationship with money, I want you to set these goals this year.

Goal #1: Be debt-free

Before even dreaming of saving millions of pesos, I highly recommend you focus on removing all your consumer debts - personal loans, credit cards, car loans, IOUs, etc.

Debt is an area that we sabotage ourselves with. Debt brings shame, guilt, and regret - energy that keeps us poor. The thing is, getting out of debt seems to be an enormous hole that is quite difficult to get out of. Not because we’re stupid or unlucky but because we haven’t learned to let go of our limiting beliefs.

When you make the decision to finally get out of debt, it could mean increasing your prices, saying no to your family, or taking risks to earn more money - actions that can trigger all our money blocks!

Getting out of debt is a mindset, and maintaining a debt-free life takes commitment to taking both practical and mindset-supporting steps to support you.

To get out of it, be honest with yourself of how much debt you have. Face it even if it scares the shit out of you.

Personally, I got out of debt by doing practical actions and manifesting. I know manifesting is such a woo-woo approach but there’s a psychological and metaphysical reasons behind it.

For 2021, make sure to set a goal of removing all your debts.

Goal #2: Save

For many, living a feast or famine lifestyle is their ‘lifestyle’. Growing up, limiting beliefs that ‘excess’ and having more than enough is bad. It’s greedy. It has been ingrained in our subconscious that wanting more is bad. That we should be satisfied.

Having money as a buffer and keeping money that we don’t need, deep down feels wrong because we should be giving more and not keeping more. You know what happens? We self-sabotage. We spend on frivolous things, we give away money even though it jeopardizes our finances, we fear of getting new clients because it may bring more money.

Let me tell you this, I’m giving you the permission to have more than you need.

And creating a savings goal is a big sign to the Universe that you’re ready to receive more.

So set a savings goal today. Start by keeping 500 pesos /100 dhs / 10 dollars monthly. Consider it as debt you have to pay by hook or by crook. Deposit it in an account and forget about it.

You can do this!

Goal #3: Set an income goal

One of the most popular posts on my blog is this one - Wag kang magtipid!

You have to read the post to understand what I meant. For me, saving by scrimping and being cheap is easy. Just depriving yourself of things you want saves you money. But is this the life you want to live?

For me, what’s more exciting is setting an income goal. Challenge yourself to have different streams of income is a goal you should set this year.

In particular, set a passive income source. Because by now you might also be aware that I’m an advocate of chillionaire lifestyle. You can be a chill-millionaire. It’s cool if you want to hustle, attend meetings back and forth, and enjoy the busy lifestyle. It’s just that for me, laidback and chill businesses are my thing.

Let me ask you, what kind of passive income you’d like to start this year?

Do you want to publish your own book?
Create your first online course?
Be an influencer and create your own personal brand?

I clearly remember that conversation. I asked my officemate why does he still need to work since his kids have all graduated and earning. He already had few investments so surely, he can retire soon.

But he said he wanted to give 1 million pesos each to his grandchildren. 

'What an amazing goal', I thought. 

But that simple conversation in 2012 made a lasting impact on me. This guy definitely was already a millionaire at that time but he wanted to have more millions for his grandchildren. And here I am, sitting inside the cafeteria, and the only balance I had was on my credit cards.

What actually struck me was that kuya was no different than me. 

As I was in-charge of payroll, I knew exactly how much he was earning. 
He was receiving only a few thousand more than my salary yet he can save MILLIONS!!!

The idea excites me. If he can do it, why can't I?

At first, the goal was to save at least 1k dirhams (around 15k pesos at that time). For someone who has no savings and swimming in credit card debts, that was a big goal. To cut the story short, I managed to save 1k. The next challenge was to save 50k pesos. Again, I achieved it.

I then had an idea...
What if I save 1 million? 1 MILLION PESOS y'all!!!

Crazy, crazy thought for someone who just managed to save 50k pesos but why not? A few years later, I hit it. I'm not saying this to brag.. it took a lot of money mindset shifts to make it happen. 

When I had my first million, nothing special happened. 
There was no celebration, no popping of champagne, or a toast. 
It didn't even occur to me that I had a million until many many months after when my husband told me. 

You know that like attracts like, right? 

Without consciously looking for them, I started to meet Filipinos who are multi-millionaires. 

I knew exactly what was happening. It was like an 'idea virus' - once you are exposed to the idea - your brain expands - and your thinking is forever changed. If I can save 1 million, it is very possible to have 2 million, 10 million, and beyond. 

And crazy enough, I managed to save and earn multi-million pesos in a few years. 
An idea that never crossed my mind - until I met someone who achieved it. 

In achieving goals, it all starts with the belief that what you want is possible. And often, it starts by seeing someone you know living the life that you want to live. 

This is the main reason why I am passionately talking about money and success. 
If not for the men and women who have shared their journeys, I might still be that women sitting in the cafeteria worrying about my due dates.

I’ve always wanted to retire early, stay at home, and take care of the kids. I had always been dreaming of the day when I’ll spend my mornings and nights the way I want it and just do things that I’m passionate about. I don’t know how to make it happen in 2015. I mean, I’m earning well but our expenses in Dubai were high too.

But we should never underestimate the power of big goals

In June 2019, after more than 14 years of being an OFW, my family went back home to the Philippines. We built our own home, launched several new businesses and I finally have all the time I need to focus on my family and my passion. 

If I have one piece of advice to you, that is to just dream big. And it’s not enough to have a big-money target, rather think of how this money can empower, inspire, reward and create the change you want in your life.

It’s also not enough to dream. Writing down a goal is good but it doesn’t end there. You need to do a lot of inspired actions. You need to plan, step out of your comfort zone, show up and have tons of confidence that the life you want is within your reach.

It took me sometime to do this training. Not because I don’t want you to know about it, in fact it’s totally the opposite but I’m afraid I’ll be judge for being ‘mukhang pera’ or ‘crazy’.

But not sharing this information is like telling you everything I know except for the secret ingredient. I feel bad about it. My intention is always to help and I feel that withholding this information is a total disservice to you.

I don’t agree. I think the more we talk about money, the more empowered we become. Whenever we make financial decisions, the more we learn. We become better in managing our money and perform better in our businesses. 

We know that money is just a tool and it won’t define us. What we do with it when we have lots (or none) will ultimately decide who we are in our core. Money amplifies our values (may it be good or bad).

I share my financial goals with you both for accountability and transparency. Accountability – since I shared it publicly, it’s quite embarrassing if I slacked on reaching them. Transparency – the same way that others share their diet and savings plan for information with no second thoughts, I intend to do the same for income. It’s quite rare to see business owners being so open on their profit and expenses and I always wonder why! So now that I have the platform, I’ll give you honest to goodness reality of running a business.

For many years now, I’ve consistently set goals and I was able to tick off most of them. And this year, I’ll share the behind-the-scenes of how I plan my financial goals. Obviously, I have other personal goals (travel, relationships, charities, health, etc.) but I won’t share them here and instead focus on financial goal of TWP. It seems fitting, obviously.

You might now that the fambam will go back home for good next year. This will have a significant change in our finances, no doubt about it.  UAE is a first-world country. I might be receiving a high salary but everything here is expensive. Schools, apartments, eating out, etc. We’re moving to the Philippines where the cost of living is way lower than UAE, hence, it is expected that we can afford to earn less than what we’re currently earning. BUT (this is a big but), although I expect that the money coming in is less during the first few months, it doesn’t mean that I intend to change our lifestyle.

I want to continue enjoying the little luxuries of life although, again, our preferred lifestyle is very subjective. My kind of lifestyle might be luxurious for some while others think it’s meh. Remember, this is your journey and you should live it the way you want to experience it. 

I was just telling this thought to my husband earlier – we’re always told to live beyond our means, that how much we save is more important than how much we earn – and this is very true. I don’t dispute it. However, my idea is quite different. Instead of just living below our means, I would like to know how much I need to earn to live the life that I want to have. 

Instead of just depriving myself of things that I want to experience, I need to figure out –  how can I afford it? You might want to read my controversial yet highly shared post “Wag ka magtipid!“

So, I started my goal-setting by figuring out our monthly/yearly expenses. How much would be our monthly expenses? How much is the budget for basic monthly necessities (food, school, electricity, internet, charity, etc)? How much should we allocate for yearly expenses (insurances, car registration, etc)? And how about the cost of our little luxuries (car, travel, dining out, shopping, etc.)? Finally, we have to make sure we’re allocating funds for investment purpose. 

With this numbers set and defined, we now have a clearer idea how much we should earn monthly. Instead of just guessing that we need 30k or maybe 50k or 100k a month, there is now an amount that we can target.

Now that we know our target income, we’ll now proceed with the exciting part – Goal Setting.

What I’ll share with you is my Income Goal for The Wealthy Pinay (Note: The family has other business ventures and TWP won’t be our sole main income generator. However, my long-term goal is for TWP to be a household name and to be known in other platforms such as TV, print, etc. and to substantially contribute to our family finances and investments)

Last year, I set so many goals that were too ambitious and too soon. The result? I didn’t reach most of them. However, in spite of this, I still accomplished a lot and have been way more productive than previous years and I wouldn’t be able to do this if I didn’t push my self and set higher goals. Sabi nga di ba – Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you‘ll land among the stars.

I’ll be honest, I was treating TWP as a hobby, especially the first part of the year. With my daytime job and mommy & wife duties, doing things for The Wealthy Pinay always take a backseat. Next year will be totally different as we’ll lose our income safety net (aka monthly salary from daytime job), so I can’t anymore afford to continue this a hobby. Besides, when I started TWP, I really intend to monetize it.

Here’s a screenshot of how I’m calculating TWP’s income from Year 1 to 3. Don’t worry if it doesn’t make sense to you now, I intend to share tutorial videos about business set-up – from marketing, to pricing, to goal-setting. Just give me sometime to collect my thoughts (and I’m praying to God to give me more perseverance) to do all these.

This 2019, I will offer various paid services with different price points. For the first year, my income from The Wealthy Pinay will come from:

1. Books (Low price point – Php 279)
2. Workshops (Middle-price point – Php 2500)
3. Online courses (High-price point – Php 15,000)

Books

You know that I just recently published my first book – The Wealthy Pinay: A Guide For Exceptional Pinays to Create Their First Class Life and the plan is to sell at least 1 book per day. That’s quite a very low target now thinking about it but I’m quite realistic that people might be hesitant to buy my book because, a) I don’t really have any big connections, b) my network is very small, c) I don’t expect that all my friends and family will buy.

I have a plan on how to promote this book all year long though, and I will carry a few copies of them with me everywhere I go para benta agad if meron interested (matindi divah?) Of course, we should be the number one sales rep of our business.

I’m confident that the book is really helpful, encouraging and inspirational based on the testimonials that I have recently received:

Workshops

Or trainings or seminars. I’ll be teaching 2-3 hour workshops on various topics such as goal-setting, branding, copywriting and everything related to business. I intend to do these only once every quarter and focus on 1 topic per quarter. This will be available online while I’m in Dubai and live workshops once I’m settled in the Philippines.

Online Courses

This will be my highest-price offering next year – an online course. It’s a 5-week online course for solopreneurs and start-ups to make their dream business a reality. It’s everything I’m sharing with my workshops, blogs, and book but more in-depth, strategic and actionable. I am very committed to work with women who are serious about their success in life and business..

Based on the recent survey I asked you guys to complete (you can still answer them here), I know majority want to have your own business but don’t know how to start and don’t have enough money for it. This is where I want to help. I want to guide you on how to create and market your expertise.

TWP business model is based on information and expertise. There’s minimal capital required and you can do it in the comfort of your homes. Others just call it blogging but blogging is only one of my marketing tools. I want to encourage Pinays who have the entrepreneurial spirits that having lack of capital shouldn’t be a hindrance to monetize your skills.

I’m a very chill person who loves ease and comfort in my life but at the same time, I have a determination of steel and don’t give up easily. My financial goal might be too low or too ambitious for some but as I always preach – Live The Life You Have Imagined For Yourself.

Am I not afraid to teach people as they can be my competitor? NOT AT ALL. There’s no point always reinventing the wheel so getting inspiration from others is normal. However, to really stand out and live your truly authentic life, you should find your own voice and work on it.

The Power of Big Goal

The Wealthy Pinay book has a chapter dedicated to Goal Setting alone. It discusses an effective way to set goals and how to achieve them (the most important part!) but let me tell you a quick tutorial on how to set yours now.

Based on a study, most people will fail on their new year’s resolution by February 18. Can you imagine that? 80% fails just after 6 weeks or so! And I know several factors why it is so.

First, there’s no attached ‘WHY’ on their goal.
Second, it’s not ‘SMART’ enough.
And lastly, they fail to track their achievements.

What’s your WHY?

Why do want to lose weight?
Why do you want to save P300,000?
Why do you want to travel to Disneyland?

Why?

Most people will set a goal but after slacking for sometime will just dismiss and declare, “Ok lang, hindi naman yan importante” or “Ok lang, next time na lang ulit.” Having a WHY will act as your anchor in case something happens that might distract you from achieving it. Remembering your WHY and having a deeper internal reason will force you back on why you started in the first place.

Is it SMART?

S – Specific (What exactly do you want?)
M – Measurable (How will you measure if you have achieved it?)
A – Achievable or Attainable or Actionable (Is it in your power to achieve it?)
R – Realistic or Reasonable or Relevant (Give yourself the opportunity to achieve your goal)
T – Time-Bound (You should have an associated deadline on it)

Track your goals

Goal-setting is fun. It’s exciting and totally exhilarating. We always start in a high note, but just as the statistics say, most of us will lose that desire to continue after just 6 weeks. One of the reasons I think is because we forget about them.

Yeah, seriously, we forget about our goals. When real life starts to kick-in – jobs, kids, commute, business – and the daily grind of living overwhelms us, we forget about our goal. That’s why I always suggest setting a regular reminder (through phone, calendar, stick it on your desk or mirror) to help you. Relying on our memory to remember a new task is difficult. We need constant reminders until the task becomes a habit.

What should we track? First, are you doing actions to achieve your goal? If you want to save 300k this year, you shouldn’t wait for a promotion or lotto winning. Instead, ask yourself, what can I do monthly that will help me save this amount by December 31? It will trigger all your Money Blocks for sure but remember that unless you work on these limiting beliefs, your dream will stay forever just like that – a dream.

An Important Note: There is no law that states we can’t start setting new goals by March, July, September or December. Your life circumstances might change and as a result, the goal you set earlier won’t be applicable anymore, or you might want to create a new goal midway of the year. It’s totally fine! Just remember to understand your WHY, set your goal SMARTly, and track it regularly.

You have this great plan and you know you can make it happen.
You are all psyched, excited and ready to face all uncertainties.
You are so ready.

But your partner (or someone that matters to you) said it’s not yet time. He is doubtful it’s possible.
He said it’s difficult and you should just stick with what you know. He mentioned all the valid reasons why you should stop believing and you hate him. And you hate yourself because you are starting to believe that he is correct.

Or sometimes, he would say he is on board but his actions say otherwise.
He doesn’t listen when you start talking about ‘the vision’. He doesn’t do any actions towards ‘the vision’. He doesn’t stop you but doesn’t contribute either. What a useless prick, right?

There are 2 things I want to say to you now.

    1. Have you clearly communicated your vision?

Oftentimes, we just tell people around us that we will do something but never really bother explaining further. That is fine because you don’t need to. But you have to share your vision to the people that truly matters to you like your husband, wife, children, etc. Explain to them how the vision looks like. What are its benefits? What does the new life looks like? Can you smell the Paris air when you are envisioning your family trip to the city of love? Then let them also smell the air.

How?

By telling them constantly of what you want. Let them get excited with the idea. You might not get reaction at first but continue. You didn’t get excited at first either when you thought of travelling to Paris because that time it was just a dream. But now you can see yourself having a picnic near Eiffel tower, right?

The time it took you to believe might be the same time it will take for them. You’re blessed that you have been enlightened. I never stopped sharing my beliefs and goals to people hoping that they will be enlightened too. I never take credit for it though because at the end of the day, it’s the person’s decision if he wants to do something with his/her life or not. No persuasion will work to someone if his/her mind is closed.

      2. Why do you care?

At the end of the day, this is your journey. I just had another blog post at filipinaexpat.com talking about my plan to leave UAE by next year. That’s my plan which I communicated to my husband. I didn’t ask for his permission. I just told him. He may decide to go with us or he may opt to work for few more years. It’s his choice and I will support him any way.

As am I decided of what I want to do, why do I need permission from anyone? I have a clear vision of what our family’s future will look like and I have plan on how to do it. The same way that you know what you want so why do you care?

This is your journey. People may join you or not but being the captain of your own ship, at the end of the day, it’s how you stir your life.

Don’t tell my husband but the way I let him join my journey is just by doing what I want. He can see the passion and dedication I’m giving to make my goals materialized. I constantly talk to him even if he doesn’t listen. I will subtly ask him to ‘proof-read’ my posts so he can read it because I know otherwise there is no way he would. Little by little, I saw improvement. So I know my tactic is working.

Overtime, my idea became his idea. And I let him take all the credit. His win is my win.

It’s easy to be discouraged and it’s easy to blame everyone why you can’t achieve your goals.

But I’ll be frank, the reason why you’re failing is because you can’t commit to your goal.

Harsh but true. Because if you truly deeply want it, you will make it happen. There’s no other way.

Working on your dream will require a big change in your mindset and while doing so you’ll change the mindset of people near you. You will affect them positively if you just continue thriving. Protect your mind and vision from doubters. Remember you own your vision. Don’t let anyone ruin it. You are not being ruthless and definitely not heartless

Because once you realized your vision, the people you care about, the people that matters the most will be with you while you are enjoying the fruits of your labor. And that’s the best achievement right?

Although I am very much a woman, the way I react (or not react) to most things is like a man. And just like men, I know I have a ‘nothing’ box and I can stay in this box for days and be happy. But I also know that it’s not productive.

Nobody wants to be lazy, that’s a fact. We genuinely want to changed our behavior.
We are always thinking of ways to psyched ourselves to be more productive.

I was browsing the internet on ways on how I can manage my time well (we all know that Google has the answer to EVERYTHING) and I stumbled upon this comment that I find so insightful that I’m re-posting it here.

How to stop being lazy: someone from Reddit replied

QUESTION: How can I stop being so damn lazy?

BEST ANSWER: “Look man, there are literally hundreds of good ways to get on with the tasks on your plate.

I find a combination of good goal setting and use of things like The Pomodoro Technique work wonders for helping me get stuff done and move forward.

But it’s not so much about being productive. It’s about living up to your word.

I’m guessing that you’re a creative, intelligent sort of person. Are you a perfectionist? That seems likely. Oftentimes, people with those characteristics really get bogged down by the magnitude of the tasks in front of them. Doing something means risking failing at it. Sometimes that risk seems to loom so large, and the drive to perfectionism is so strong, that any sort of meaningful and productive task just seems like it’s not worth it. Why risk failing, when you can just do something else instead?

Of course, in the back of your mind you know that those choices are causing you to fail anyway. That’s why you’re miserable.

So you have to re-think things in a different way.

First up, you have to give yourself permission to fail, permission to be less than perfect sometimes.Failing at something, making mistakes, opens up a great opportunity to learn something new.

Second, you have to recognize that laziness and procrastination are destructive to your word. When you take on a task you make a promise to somebody (perhaps just yourself, but somebody) that you will complete that task. Putting that off brings you out of integrity with your word in the matter. That’s not bad, or wrong, it just is what there is in the situation.

But integrity is the thing that makes life work. It is the structure that holds our interactions together. When integrity fails, the structure collapses. Honoring your word is the way to make sure that the integrity of the situation remains intact.

The best way to honor your word is to put it into some sort of reality. Start making and keeping a schedule, and a to-do list, if you don’t already.

Start planning your actions, breaking them into smaller tasks that are more easily achievable. Those things serve as a very real reminder that you’ve made a promise that you need to keep. Your word has to be the thing that keeps you moving forward. Honoring that word has to become your primary motivation.

You also need to enlist others to keep you accountable. Get a friend to check up with you, and kick your ass. When you need motivating to take an action, somebody is there to hold you accountable for that action. This piece alone helped me finally finish up a college degree that had been awaiting completion for over 6 years. My friends found out, did all they could to help, and held me accountable to get it done.

But, most importantly, you have to recognize that honoring your word to yourself is absolutely critical. It’s easy to keep promises to others, we don’t like to disappoint. But it’s much harder to keep your word with yourself.

You are every bit as deserving of that respect as anybody else who might be involved.

Change your perspective. It’ll change your life.”

My biggest advice to you – STOP USING THE WORD ‘SHOULD’.

Most of us welcome this year with full of hope and positivity. Because why not, right?
It’s like we are given the chance to start anew and it feels like we are starting from scratch.
All the frustrations and pain that the previous year brought us can be forgotten.
All the things that didn’t materialized last year might happen this year.

In a way that’s true!

Unless you are dead, the chance that you can do something differently in your future is very probable.
And that’s the good thing about welcoming new year.
It gives us hope.

But I hope you just don’t end up wishing because I know you know that it doesn’t end there.
Writing new year resolutions is not enough.
Listing down your goals to achieve this year won’t do any good if you don’t follow it up with actions, and heaps of determination. But I think you already know that.
Because just like me you have done resolutions before and most of them fail.

And you are more frustrated with yourself more than anything else because you know that if only you were more courageous, more disciplined, more consistent then your goals could have happened.
You are self aware. You know what needs to be done but you lack the will to pursue them.

I’m here to give you some tips on how you can turn your new year resolutions to reality.

How to turn New Year Resolutions Into Powerful Goals

1. Decide what you really want
   ‘Have more time with my family’
   ‘Lose weight’
   ‘Be more patient’
   ‘Be happy’They are all good resolutions but it’s difficult to quantify.

   If you spend 2 hours a day with your family, will you be happy? And will you count the time you are cleaning the house while the kids are playing? And how will you know if you achieve happiness? Difficult to answer, right?

   I will let you decide what you want to write. It’s your life. But can I say one thing? Can you make sure that it is something you have been wanting so much? Something that you have been dreaming for ages to achieve. Something that will make you so excited that you can’t wait to make it happen!

   Most resolutions fail because we realized it’s something that we just want during the start of the year and mostly out of whim but after a few months we lost the desire to continue because we realized that it’s not really that important to us.

2. Be Realistic
   You know I’m an advocate of dreaming bigger and aiming for the stars but I am also a realist in nature.If you for a fact haven’t sold a single thing in your life except ice candies then don’t write ‘Be the next Lucio Tan of the new generation’ because it won’t probably be a reality this year. Your resolutions should be something that you can see happening in immediate future. If you’re life long dream is to open a Korean restaurant in your area and you don’t have any business experience whatsoever then I suggest list down skills you would like to harness first this year like communication or marketing skills.

   And how can you do that practically? You can make it a goal to read 1 book per month about selling and marketing. You can make it a goal to talk to 10 businessmen and women you know and ask them of their experience, advice or tips

   If you feel like having that business is not this year (yet) then do something to prepare yourself.

3. Write it down
   Yup, you have to write it down. Don’t trust your memory remembering it unless you only have 1 or 2 resolutions this year. Don’t put your goals on a piece of paper where there is great chance you will misplaced them.My best advice is to buy a journal (if you still don’t have one yet). Writing your goal is one step closer on making it happen. And the reason why I want you to write a journal is because of point number 4 below.
4. Outline the actions you need to take
   If the goal is to save 100,000 by the end of the year, how can you achieve it?
   What are things you need to do to make it happen?
   When are you going to do these steps?
   Do you need help or can you figure this out yourself?If you write ‘do not spend on unnecessary things’ as one of your action points to save 100,000 then you will fail. Guaranteed!
   Because you will spend on unnecessary things for sure. I can already hear you having these lines:

   “Oh, this movie time with my friends is necessary to keep me sane”
   “I have to treat myself once in a while, I deserve it”
   “All work no play is not good for overall health. Having some fun is good”

   So you will spend, and you will continue to spend.

   Am I telling you to be a scrooge? Hell NO!
   I want you to enjoy life. That’s my advocacy.
   I actually don’t believe in saving to be honest. For me, the goal is always “How can I afford it?”
   “How can I afford to travel to Paris?”
   “How can I afford to stay at home?”
   “How can I afford being near my parents?”

   Going back to the given goal earlier. If the plan is to save 100,000 this year, what are the actions you need to take to achieve it? It could be doing some online business that can pay your monthly transportation cost. It could be selling brownies in your office building that the income generated can cover your everyday meals. It could be removing any unnecessary monthly or yearly subscriptions you availed or any extra insurance you bought.

   If you really want to make it happen, you have to plan on how you can achieve it. There’s no other way.

5. Review it often.
   Writing it down once won’t make it real. Goals require lots of small actions going forward to make it happen.
   And revisiting your goals will help you remember the joy and excitement you felt when you first wrote it down.
   Don’t lose that determination. That’s the fuel that will keep your passion burning.

   I know that it is unrealistic to feel upbeat and overflowing with joy everyday, I won’t even tell you to try.
   But remember that the only person who can help you achieve whatever you want is yourself. Not your friends, not your parents, not your husband, not your mentor, not me. People around you can only give advice, encouragement, tips and support. But the action should start from you.The desire to continue and make it happen should come from you.

Words and thoughts are so powerful that I always use it on my advantage. I dream big, I believe it’s possible and I take lots of inspired actions. That’s my recipe for success.

And I so freaking believe that my recipe is true because in just a short span of 2 years, I am able to achieve all the things that I was only dreaming for the last than 10 years. And the people whom I’ve shared this thought over  several coffee breaks, lunch dates and heart to heart talks have followed the same recipe and now have manifested things that they were only wishing earlier.
